about

This piece comes from the living legend Hermeto Pascoal. I have always loved this melody which I first heard on Mike Marshall and Jovino Santos Neto’s duet album. My old group Strings of Tao played it years ago, and I have longed to do more with it. For this session, I composed some of the string parts in Sibelius (music notation software), yet Enion’s skill and experience is far greater, and she took liberties with my ideas to give it more motion, shape, and life. Max did the same on bass. Once again this was a perfect opportunity to utilize my 1928 National plectrum steel guitar.
